Soil fertility is good and the farm has been managed organically since 2017 with it being certified organic since 2020. The land is relatively flat and was regraded in 2018 to aid in drainage. There are still some areas that have poor drainage and the larger back area of the farm (.26 acres) is rebounding from the compaction of the drainage process. Compost, minimal tilling, and cover crops have been used over the last few years to assist in amending the soil. There has been some heavy weed pressure and deer and rabbits are the most common pests. The flower field (.09 acres) is on a leach field.

Rent is year-to-year (not lease to own). Rent for the land and high tunnel for the year is $900 plus $100/month for the barn access, packing shed, walk-in cooler, and small greenhouse ($25/month each). In addition to rent, water usage and electric usage will be monitored and paid separately on a monthly basis.

Additional Information

This is an urban farm on a residential property that was converted from a grass lawn in 2017.  The property has a walk-in cooler and packing shed that is accessible by vehicle for easy loading/unloading.  The walk-in cooler has shelving that can be removed and is cooled by a Coolbot/AC unit.  The property is extremely close (5-10 minutes) to multiple farmers markets (Clintonville, Worthington) and is set up to cater to a CSA operation as well due to it's convenient location in relation to customers.  It is also within 5-10 minutes of countless restaurants seeking local produce.  The farm was operated by the landowner, Katie, since 2017 and she will be living on the property with her husband and toddler.  The land quality is good and has been managed organically since 2017 as a mixed produce and cut flower operation.  All fenced fields have been mixed produce.
