Experience

Please describe your past and/or present farming experience:

I'm in my 4th season as the assistant farm manager on a market garden in Northern Kentucky (full time). We have an 87 person CSA and deliver to restaurants around the Cincinnati area. I work with all stages of growth during the season: starting seeds in the greenhouse + care/maintenance, hardening off, cultivating, transplanting, irrigation, harvest, wash + pack and deliveries. I also have experience pruning apple trees at an orchard in Northern Kentucky. I recently started an herbal business making and selling body products (salves, lotion bars, lip balm, body butter, etc.) using herbs grown on the farm.

Business Plan/Goals

Do you have a business plan? Please write an informative description of your vision & goals for your farming future.:

We are two female farmers looking for land to organically grow medicinal herbs. We are open to different possibilities. The ideal situation would include 1-2 acres to grow medicinal and culinary herbs, as well as a large sustenance vegetable garden, as well as wooded acreage for foraging. When I'm not farming, I spend time foraging and working on my business, Effloresce Herbals, where I make herbal body products using herbs I've grown and foraged plants (https://www.etsy.com/shop/effloresceshop). My end goal would be to sell my products and any extra produce at farmer's markets, sell medicinal herbs wholesale, and expand Effloresce Herbals to include teas, spice blends, tinctures and a wider variety of plant medicine, all while living a self sufficient/eco-friendly lifestyle.
