Business Plan/Goals
Do you have a business plan? Please write an informative description of your vision & goals for your farming future.:
Seed farming/conservancy is really the goal here. What's agricultural resilience without a local genetic seed bank? I plan to build a hub for preserving locally adapted OP seeds of all food/medicinal/ornamental/native varieties. Even breeding, and eventually research into new varieties, especially perennial fruit trees and nuts. Facilitating the building of a network of seed preservation and research in the region. All in a restoration agriculture setting. A no till perennial structuring to the farm. Which will eventually be my homestead. It would also be a resource for education and outreach to the community at large. I am not entirely sure whether to set up as a business, non profit, or conservatory. Or some hybrid. It will probably change over time. Setting up a trust seems to be a good long term way to go. Will include pasturing of animals eventually, for orchard maintenance, as well as wool production, if someone interested in animal husbandry wants to join me. To be included in the long term is development of plants and animals for value added products related to natural dyes and fiber for art, musical instrument building, clothing and so on.
