Farmer Profile for Tabitha Harris

Co-Applicant / Partner Name:

Patrick Rainbolt

Experience

Please describe your past and/or present farming experience:

Patrick and I have been urban farming vegetables for the past 4 years on various properties when and where possible. We taught urban farming classes via the Columbus Idea Foundry from 2017 till the spring of 2019. Our current endeavors for 2020 are to continue to help an existing client develop their backyard into a sustainable growing space, continue to develop the growing potential of Nortwest Masonic Temple and to continue pushing the boundaries of container gardening to grow on the patio spaces at our townhome. We have had several people show interest in developing growing spaces at their properties and we will be following up with them in the near future. Over the last few years we have been starting our plants from seeds and we plan to continue that this year. Our hope is to be able to grow all crops from seed as we have space to do so. Both Patrick and I come from farming backgrounds. Patrick's family farmed some when he was young. I grew up on a 14acre farm. We grew large gardens and I participated in the local 4-H community with market lambs, horses, sewing and cooking. I also learned a lot about sheep, horses and large scale combine farming by spending a lot of time with my cousins who still combine farm to this day.
